Top Dog
The top dog is the leader of the gang. Very highly respected, his/her word is law! The top dog is the dog who keeps the gang together, the dog whom you come to to seek advice or to report to. He/she is often referred too as a gang member's 'Lord' or 'Lady'.
Lieutenant
This dog is the second in command. The top dog's right hand man and often closest friend. The Luietenant is in charge or the Guardians, and will take over ruling briefly if the Top Dog is ill.
Shaman
This is the mecicine dog of the gang. Wise and kind, he/she cares for dogs in pain and gives advice to the Top Dog. The shaman is often quite old, however it is not unknown for a young dog to hold this position. Shaman's may have apprentices.
Guardian
These are highly respected dogs who act as the body guards to the gang. They fight off any opposition and have a duty to give their life for their leader if neccesary. These dogs must be ultimately loyal and strong. More experienced Guardians have more power then the newer dogs, and are more highly respected. Senior Guardians train newer Guardians if training is needed. There is also, although it is not an official rank, a 'Top Guardian'. Usually the first guardian of the gang, or, if the gang is an old one, a guardian that has been serving the gang for longer than the others. This dog is to be respected and obeyed even by his or her fellow guardians, or at least, to a certain extent. The rank of guardian is rarely given straight away, but must be worked up to.
Scout
Scouts are also quite highly respected. They patrol the gang's scent borders and report back to the Top Dog. They do not fight often, they are like the watch dogs of the pack. They must be intelligent and swift. Scouts also help meeting and greeting newcomers.
Hunter
Hunters must provide for the gang. They scrounge in bins and beg for food, they do anything it takes to get enough food for their fellow dogs. If a hunter shows potential to become a Guardian they will be promoted to that position.
Elder
These are the dogs who are to old to work for the gang. They are usually retired Scouts, Guardians or Hunters. Elders are treated with much tolerance care always, as they are very highly respected. It is rare for a dog to be accepted into a gang if they will immediately become an elder, although it is not impossible if there is a kind Top Dog.
New Dog
These are dogs who have just been accepted by the Top Dog into the gang. They have no responsibilities, but Liuetenants and Top Dogs will test them to see if they have they have the potential to be a scout. If not they become a hunter.
Pup
Pups are the future of the gang, so are treated with the utmost care. The day that a female bears pups is a celebration! The gang rules to not apply so harshly tpo the pups, and they are treated with affection and love by all dogs. It is a serious offence to harm a pup; one that may result in exile, or even death.
Loner
These dogs have no gang. They live alone on the streets. They hunt and fend for themselves and live by no code.
