The evening was frozen and silent, missing even the slightest wind to rattle the now-barren trees. The vast lake that sprawled across the park's grounds had a silver tinge to its edges where it had begun to freeze, all the grass along its shore rigid with frost. It was a starless night, and it seemed much too dark for such an early hour.
Shortly after the sky had just begun to darken, a figure appeared on the path that ran through the park. The dark shadow of the husky paused, turning back the way she had come, to see if the large rhodesian ridgeback was still with her.
As she stood still, shifting her weight off of her injured arm, there was a faint buzzing sound, and she whipped her head around, as one by one, starting at the far end of the street that bordered the park, the streetlights began to flicker and come on. Suddenly the park was illuminated with the orangy glow, and an awed smile crossed Valentina's lips. Lights shone through the trees, dappling the ground with black shadows and golden splotches, and lighting up every bit of ice in the park.
And indeed the park was covered, every blade of grass now shining, the trees seemingly covered with thousands of tiny lights, and the lake reflected it all, golden trees dancing on its waves, shining up from its depths.
Valentina's smile just grew, her velvet ears laying back as she looked around. Then suddenly her ears pricked, and she gazed up at the sky as a snow flake floated by her face. Many more followed in succession, thick snow flakes floating lazily down, suddenly glowing gold as they came within the range of the streetlights.
Snow began to catch on the tips of the femme's thick fur, and when she snapped out of her awed state, she shook her lush pelt, the icy flakes spraying off her in a white aura, the tiny white flower falling from her mouth. It laid in the newly fallen snow, forgotten.

Large paws crunched as they crushed the frost laden grass. Dark auds were perked, mahogany eyes soft as Tyrant absorbed the beautiful scene before him. The lake - his lake - was covered in a thin, filmy layer of ice towards the banks. The Top Dog knew that this would soon strengthen, becoming an almost impenatrable, frozen shield, and would strech to cover all of the water.
Dark eyes flitted to Valentina, and Tyrant blinked. The street lights had flickered into life, and the husky cross was illuminated in golden light. Once again, a hard lump formed in Tyrant's throat, and he had to swallow hard to rid himself of it. He had stopped in his tracks, eyes trained on Valentina's back with a thoughtful, slightly confused expression, brow furrowed.
A sudden cold feeling in his nasal area lured him from his reverie. A snow flake had landed upon his nose, and now more of the partiallly frozen, white substance was falling from the sky. Tyrant's maw broke into a broad smile, and he padded up next to Valentina, seating himself next to her so that their shoulders touched, offering her his warmth.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" He rumbled, turning his kind mahogany gaze on her. He remembered her tail under his chin and looked away again, pondering the femme's actions. They reminded him of something...
With a jolt, Tyrant remembered exactly what they reminded him of. He started, but, unlike the last time this had happened - with a different femme, one he now considered his greatest friend - Tyrant did not harbour a sudden feeling of sadness, nor of sympathy. Rather, he felt elated, but, at the same time, incredibley awkward.
What now? The great brute thought, staring into the dancing snow flakes, very aware of Valentina, close by his side.
You must never hold back your feelings, that can get you into many sticky situations... He remembered his mother telling him this as a yearling.
I have something else to tell her, actually... Tyrant thought, pushing his more confusing emotions aside for a while - with difficulty.
The Top Dog knew that Reverie would never take the position of Lieutenant. God knew, he had asked her enough times. She always refused the position, saying that she enjoyed being a Guardian - she enjoyed protecting the gang physically.
Tyrant trusted Valentina. He trusted all of his gang members, but Valentina was a dog he knew he could always rely on.
"Valentina, I have a question to ask you," Tyrant said calmly, careful to keep his gaze focused one the land scape so that he was not distracted.
"You have been a loyal gang member, and, more importantly, a wonderful friend... with this in mind, I would like to offer you the position of Lieutenant." A smile spread across his muzzle, and Tyrant risked a glance at the strawberry and cream wolf-dog. Mahogany eyes were twinkling, and Tyrant's plume began to sway as he awaited the femme's answer.

Valentina looked over her shoulder to see Tyrant's confused expression, and reflected his puzzlement in her own icy gaze, shining silver under the golden lights. She looked back ahead, staring down at her paws and trying to decipher why every time she caught his mahogany gaze, she had to remind herself to breathe.
A grin flashed across her wolfish features as Tyrant sat so close to her, but she managed to stifle it to a slight smile. Although she found she couldn't flirt so carelessly with Tyrant like was able to with others, the femme still took advantage of being close to him, and wasted no time in inching closer and letting her head fall to the side to rest against his neck. Her cheeks felt extremely hot, and she was glad for the near-darkness.
"Yeah....yeah it really is gorgeous," she said, with somewhat of a dreamy quality in her voice. Then Tyrant announced he had a question, and the husky fae picked her head up to look at him fully, blue eyes all too eager to hear what he would ask. Her tail began rhythmically sweeping the ground quickly behind her, creating half of a snow-angel in the thin layer of powdery snow.
Lieutenant. Her heart skipped a beat and a bright smile dawned her creamy muzzle at his words. At first she didn't know what to say, or how to put it, and as she caught his gaze, making her heart beat even faster, she flicked her velvet ears in concentration, and the words slipped out of her mouth faster than her mind could keep up, her ivory smile never fading.
"Of course...there's nothing I'd rather do than be by your side," she said, not really with a gushy, dreamy tone, but more like it was a fact. Upon realizing what she'd said however, she laid her ears back, a couple snow flakes falling from the tips of them, and Valentina allowed her eyes to wander off across the lake, disbelieving that she'd said that. She tried her best to act cool, as though it could've been taken another way, although her tail was beating the ground so fast she doubted she could keep the true value of it from Tyrant.
She brought her eyes back to him and finished, "I accept your offer," She thought for a minute, and then asked, "But what made you choose me?" she cocked her head to the side, noticing suddenly the actions of her tail, and wrapping the plume about her feet tightly.

Tyrant was slightly taken aback by her words, and his mahogany eyes widened slightly. He averted his gaze quickly at the same time she did, chosing to look over her ivory and crimson head, out into the darkening night. To his surprise, he found that his cheeks felt warm.
"Thanks," He murmered, and bent his head to lick her crown. A small smile shaped his lips and he lifted his cranium, dark ears perking to listen to her question.
"Because, Valentina, I trust you. And I enjoy your company. The rank will fit you, and..." Tyrant trailed off with a soft, odd laugh. "And, Valentina, I treasure dearly the time spent by your side, too."
His eyes twinkling with warmth, despite the icy setting, Tyrant pressed the tip of his maw against Valentina's head. The awkward feeling he had harboured had passed, and now his mother's words kept ringing through his mind. But Tyrant shook them away. He had no wish to be rash. If the right time arose, and when he was absolutely sure that he could handle the consequences of his words, he would speak.
ooc: Heh. Tyrant's so sensible! XP

At Tyrant's last words, the strawberry and cream femme felt something warm rush through her veins, and the feeling of temporary embarrassment vanished.
She wanted to sing, to just throw her head back and howl like she did when she first heard Laion's song, but she was determined to maintain some form of casualness, and settled for a smile, her blue eyes staring through they snow-covered ground, into some enchanting world beyond.
Then she felt his nose press against her head, and she let out a quiet laugh, turning and licking his nose, then looked up at him, giving him a meaningful look as she peered into his deep brown eyes with her chilling pools, though the smile still played faintly across her black lips.
God he's handsome, she thought, then closed her eyes for a second, her smile widening a bit as she pushed this thought away. Opening her eyes again, she thought she caught something else in Tyrant's expression, and nuzzled his neck with her maw, resting her head on his shoulder again when she spoke.
"You sure there's nothing else bothering you?" she asked quietly, watching the golden trees wavering on the lakes surface. Snow flakes caught the light before they disappeared into the water, and the wolven fae waited in silence.

Tyrant lifted his head with a smile as Valentina licked his nose. He met her gaze evenly, returning her strange look. Suddenly, although he had pushed them away only moments before, his mother's words sprang into mind, coupled with something his sister had said before they parted, when he had questioned her about her mate - something he had never done before.
You'll know when you find it Tyrant... Aphro had said mysteriously in answer to one of his few questions, asking about a particular feeling. Tyrant sighed. Was this it? Or was it just a faze. He blinked. His mother's voice filled his brain, drowning out Aphro's strange answer, and he broke his eye contact with Valentina to stare, once again, over her head into the night, his expression troubled.
Tyrant felt Valentina's affectionate caress, and dark auds perked to catch her question. He leaned away from the femme and studied her for a moment, then spoke.
"There is." He stated truthfully, still staring at her, dark eyes thoughtful and intense.
"I..." He trailed off and stared up at the sky for a moment, thinking hard. He had never felt like this before. Never. He was hardly ever lost for words, and he rarely felt this torn. Half of his mind was pulling in one direction, the other half pulling in the other. Like an odd game of tug-of-war. Tyrant's eyes slid shut, and he remained still for a long moment before lowering his head, determination flashing briefly through his eyes. Then, his expression was soft and kind.
"I have something else to ask you, Valentina," The Top Dog's voice was low and gentle. "I have never felt what I feel now - about you - about anyone else before." He gave a soft chuckle. "I have never felt so... odd." Shaking his head, a smile shaped his maw.
Tyrant's eyes softened further, his voice barely a whisper as he uttered his next words. His back straightened and his head was held proudly as he gazed affectionately down at the crimson and ivory wolf-dog. "Valentina Delicia, will you be my mate?"
ooc: I was gonna draw this about a bit longer... but what the heck! lol.

A light frown crossed her maw, puzzlement dancing in her icy eyes as Tyrant leaned away to look at her, and she pricked her velveteen rose ears at his words.
Slowly, as he spoke, a brilliant smile dawned her features like a sunrise, and half-way through his words she drew herself closer to him, nuzzling his neck and burying her grinning maw in the space between his broad shoulder and neck, her thick tail sweeping the snow behind her.
"Odd..." she muttered, then drew leaned away to gaze happily up into his face. She closed her eyes, cherishing the moment, as she said, "It's not odd...it's love," she cocked her head, continuing. "I've never felt this way before about anyone, either..." she shook her head disbelievingly at the words escaping her creamy muzzle. "And now I think you're the reason I'm still here." She licked his maw lightly, then withdrew. "Tyrant...Of course I'll be your mate." she whispered.

It's not odd, it's love, Valentina said, and Tyrant smiled. He gazed at her with a kind, admiring look in his dark eyes as she spoke, and his heart seemed to swell with happiness. She had accepted! She felt the same way about him! She loved him! And what's more, Tyrant loved her, too.
"Yes, love," The large, aubern hued rhodesian ridgeback said softly, shifting close to his new mate and planting a light kiss on her crown.
He lifted his head, eyes smiling, and moved back again so that he could gaze at Valentina.
ooc: Crappeh post. hehe. Don't know why it is, actually, just can't think of anything else to add. XP

((I feel your pain...O.o lol there's not alot to say!))
The wolf dog just kept smiling, gazing up at her mate with icy eyes that a fire seemed to dance behind. She was at a loss for words, just happy to be there, with him, in that moment.
She now found it frightening how close she came to leaving this place, afraid of hurting anyone else, and awed at how lucky she was to actually stick around, where as with most places she never stayed for more than a week. She shuddered involuntarily, at the thought of having lived without him, and brought her head back to stare up at the falling snow, invisible against the black night sky until the orangy streetlights caught the tiny flakes and turned them into a thousand little bursts of gold. It was like every star in the sky was falling, and that's about how Valentina felt.
She brought her gaze back to Tyrant, and licked his cheek affectionately before her ears pricked, and she turned to find the chickweed for Revereie. An inch of snow had fallen, just enough to bury it, but she sniffed the ground carefully, and found it right near where they were sitting. She poked her nose into the snow and picked up the tiny white flower, then looked back to her mate fondly, brushing the snow off the tip of her maw with one creamy paw.
"C'mon," she said smiling, the chickweed rolling to the corner of her mouth. "We'd better give this to Reverie and get back before the gang thinks we've frozen to death."

Dark eyes were bursting with affection as Tyrant watched Valentina uncover the chickweed. He dipped his head in agreement and got to his feet, planting a swift lick upon the side of her cheek.
"Yes," He said with a soft chuckle. "And we'll have to announce this to the gang as well. It's time I called a meeting."
Glancing over his shoulder once, Tyrant flashed Valentina a quick, warm smile, then began to walk steadily away from the lake, in the direction of the Hollow.
