ooc: Yup. I'mm putting poor old Riley up for adoption. He's a brilliant charrie, and I don't feel I'm putting enough time and effort into him. So yeah. -huggles Riley-
Name: Riley Fynn
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Rank: Loner
Mate: -
Pups: -
Breed: Irish Red and White Setter
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 47 pounds
Physical Appearance: Riley is quite a large dog, although his build is lithe and slender. He is built and bred for hunting and scent tracking, not fighting. His back slopes slightly, its highest point at his shoulder, sloping down to his haunches. His tail is stereotypical of a setter. It is long and sturdy, able to be held perfectly straight behind him. Silky tendrils of fur cascade down from the tail, causing it to look plumed and large.
The Irish Red and White setter's pelt is short and silky over most of his body, but it hangs from his chest in long whispy curls. His ears, small and floppy, are also covered in curly fur.
Riley Fynn's coat is mainly coloured in swan white, but large patches of rich red splatter his torso. His ears are also aubern, the dark colour trickling into his face and covering both eyes, which are large and black. His muzzle is long and quite squared, although its corners are rounded.
Personality: Riley is a good-natured creature, slow to anger. He is fun-loving, determined and optimistic, always trying to get other dogs involved, constantly trying to help (both of which can sometimes be quite annoying). He is also easily excited, a bouncy individual with, it sometimes seems, never ending supplies of energy. He hates keeping still, always moving in one way or another, and sometimes this sabotages his desperate attempts to remain obedient.
Although he is sweet to newly introduced dogs, it will take a while to gain his loyalty and trust. However, once Riley trusts you, you will have a loyal friend at your shoulder for a long time.
Riley is an awful fighter, as he was not bred for it. He was bred for speed and agility, to be a tracker, a hunter. He was also bred to be a pack animal, as setters usually hunt with a large number of other dogs. He enjoys immensly the company of others.
History: Riley was born to two setters serving a 'gun club'. His parents went on fox hunts with groups of men on horse-back, and his owners were paid for the dog hire. He, however, never got to experience fox hunting, as he was sold when he was very young. The club had plenty of pups, and, having no need for more, sold Riley and his siblings to the highest bidder.
Riley, being a healthy, and ultimately cute young pup, was bought by a family wishing to supply a birthday present for their friend's daughter. The sweet pup was a sucessful present at first, with the young girl, Madaline, fussing over him constantly.
However, when Riley was a year old, fully grown and craving excercise, Madaline's family decided that he had to go. They lived in a house wih a small garden, and simply didn't have time to take hoim for lengthy walks.
He was taken to the local RSPCA, but the centre could not take in any new dogs because it was, at the time, suffering from a case of rabies that a stray dog had brought in and didn't want to risk infecting other dogs.
Madaline refused to abandon 'poor, innocent Riley' but her parents decided that there was nothing else for it. In the middle of the night, when Madaline was sleeping, her father bundled Riley into the car, drove deep into the centre of the city, and deposited him on the street before driving off again.
Riley, being the loyal canine that he was, waited happily for his owner to return once more and take him home. He waited all day, and at night it began to rain, but he still didn't move.
However, by the time the sun was setting the next day and neither Madaline or her parents had returned, Riley had finally realised that they were not returning. Stiff, cold and sodden, he left the place where he had sat for roughly thirty four hours and began his life as a stray.
The Irish Red and White setter managed to survive with reasonable ease on his own, preying on the rodents that roamed the alleys, along with the occasoinal pigeon. However, his soul was shattered. He was miserable, confused. The owners he had so dearly loved and trusted had abandoned him.
'Twas almost anotehr year later before Riley had finally managed to get over the treachery of the two-legs who were supposed to have loved him. His spirit replenshed he was, if anything, happier than ever. He found that the life of a stray suited him. He could roam wherever, excercise whenever. He was free!
However, their was something missing. Riley was a pack animal, and he craved for the company of others of his species. A knawing loneliness threatened to overwhelm him every now and then, but he would push it down firmly, telling himself that he would be ok, he could survive another day without a gang. Until he found the borders to the park, the borders to Tyrant's gang.....
Now, Riley is a new dog in the gang. He is well liked by those who have met him, as he is respectful and kind.
