The wolf bristled and stiffened as Reverie snarled her words at him. He didn't move, but lowered his head even more and closed his lips together, flexing his black talons and gazing up at her with his crazy blue eyes, an expression of pleading in them. In his body he was ready to kill; he'd do anything to protect Valentina. But his eyes...his eyes were begging the femme before him to stop.
Her accusing him hurt enough, and though Laion's enormous paws remained planted, his claws digging into the dirt as she continued, he was getting very worked up. His eyes kept flashing from Reverie's fiery glare to Valentina, who he noticed with a start had her eyes open, but only for an instant. It was a glimpse of a tiny sliver of ice, and then it was gone.
His ears pricked forward, and then he looked back to the dog he was sure he'd have to kill now. He didn't say anything, but stilled his quivering muscles, and waited for her to make the first move, although he didn't snarl or advance; he just begged with his eyes. Begged her to stop and not make him do this. It wasn't fair, and he had to get to his sister, and this fae was standing between them: Laion didn't think it through any more than this.
But just as Reverie snarled wolf, in what he took as disgust, a loud bark had ceased action. This last comment had struck him low---he had actually flinched when she'd said it. He just looked desperately at Valentina, then quickly brought his gaze to Tyrant, who appeared before him. Great. he thought helplessly. Now there's two dogs between us. He let out a low whine, leaning around Tyrant to see Reverie glaring at him, then lying down next to Valentina. His eyes widened, and his mouth fell open a little as he realized that Reverie was, in fact, clearly not a threat to Valentina.
He looked up at Tyrant, raising his head back up and out of his defensive stance. He thought about Tyrant's question and immediately began fidgeting. He didn't quite know how to answer...he hadn't really thought it through. His eyes kept flickering over to Valentina and as he opened his mouth to respond, Tyrant bounded over to her. He stood there bewildered for a minute, then slowly padded around to her remaining side.
"So what happened?" he asked at last.
The husky femme meanwhile was slowly fighting her way back to the real world, in which she was feeling quite dignified and mad at herself for being so weak.
Her blue eyes fluttered open again, and she realized she was surrounded. She felt Reverie licking her wound and Tyrant licking her maw. She looked up at them, not moving her head, as she didn't feel she had it in her, but offered a small grin. "I'm fine guys," she muttered, closing her eyes again. Laion just smiled at her and sat down, uttering a soft, ironic laugh and gazing affectionately at her.

Reverie's muscles tensed as Laion padded to Valentina's side, her chocolate eyes watching his every move, her lips lifting slightly, ready to peel backwards completely to reveal powerful ivories. The femme was no fool, she knew Laion could kill her if he wished - but she would fight to the death to protect Valentina, to protect Tyrant, if she had to, and would, perhaps, give him a few wounds to remember - perhaps injure him enough so that one of her friends could finish him off-
Her angry train of thought was cut off by Valentina's murmered phrase, and Reverie turned instantly back to her, ignoring Laion's question.
"Yeah, right," She said softly, bending her head and continuing to groom Valentina's shoulder - which was beginning to look a bit better. I should've been shaman, Reverie thought synically with a soft chuckle, tongue rasping repetitively over her friend's shoulder.
Tyrant lifted his head to face Laion, lips parting, ready to form an answer, when Valentina's voice caused his head to snap back around and his muzzle broke into a broad grin.
"I'm glad," He said seriously, lowering his maw to nuzzle her ear. Her eyes closed, but he didn't lift his head, gazing at her for a moment with a look that caused Reverie, who had lifted her eyes to Tyrant's face, to raise an eyebrow.
After a moment, the rhodesian ridgeback lifted his cranium and turned to adress Laion.
"Sorry about that," He said, suddenly his normal self again, apologising for turning away from the wolf. The argument before hand had almost been forgotten - Tyrant doubted it would be brought up again, and if it was, he would deal with it then. There's no need fixing what isn't broken. He thought, nodding his head and smiling to himself.
"Reverie and your sister were caught in a fire recently - Reverie is still recovering from the ailments she gained in it. Valentina gained her cut in the fire, it seems to have grown worse over time." He explained. Then a thought struck him - where was Triss? He had left the small femme near the Hollow at the sound of raised voices. Surely she should have been her by now.
"Triss?" Tyrant barked loudly, his voice filled with concern. He hoped the young shaman had not run into any trouble in his short absence.

A vulpine femme dashed into the hollow, panting. "I apologize," she whispered, her auds flattening against her skull. She looked at Reverie, glad she was up, then stared at Laion and Valentina. She turned her head so that her maw grazed her wound.
"Valentina!" she yelped, belly to the ground, as her ears shot up. "Don't worry; I've got enough herbs for her. A few cobwebs'll patch that up nicely, but I'll need marigold in case that got infected." She was surprised at her own tone, which was calming but slightly commanding.
"You . . . Laion, right? Can you take her to my den? Or will that be necissary?" She looked at Reverie. "D-do you need anything, ma'am?"
The young dog Cody was overwhelmed when all of the dogs swarmed about him, starting with Reverie's growl, and especially when the wolf leaped in, snarling. He pulled himself to his paws, looking at Tyrant - the first dog he had seen in the city - for comfort. And that was when he noticed Trisscar again, saying something about corn-on-the-cob-webs and married-gold, or whatever; he was still in a daze. He gave a quick, welcoming bark, then ducked his head in embarasment as Triss blinked at him strangely, ears back, flattened to the ground bristling.

Velveteen wolven ears flicked back as her name was yelped, pulling Valentina throughly out of the little trance she had fallen into. She opened her eyes and her curious gaze rested upon their shaman, Triss, whom she offered a smile and twitched her tail, although she closed her eyes again. She felt extremely light-headed, and was glad to see the fox-dog.
Laion had once again risen to his feet when Triss had entered. A smile split his maw as she listed off herbs and cures for Valentina, and he recognized her as the gang's shaman. His blue eyes brightened as she spoke to him, and he nodded crazily at her request. "I can do that." he said with the tone of a soldier on a mission.
Valentina, on the other hand, was grateful for Triss's help, but the husky-mix fae was a dignified and independent spirit, and did not like the idea of being carried. Slowly she stretched her creamy limbs beneath her and rose with painful slowness to her feet. "I'm fine guys, really!" she said with a mischievous smile, but a head rush hit her hard and she wavered on her feet, and in an instant Laion dove under her and hoisted her onto his back. Her feet were mere inches above the ground and she resisted weakly, finally giving up with a dignified huff. She shook her head wearily and relaxed.
"So off to your den then," the wolf said, meaning for Triss to lead the way. He turned to Reverie, lowering his maw and pinning back his ears as he spoke to her. "I'm...I'm sorry, for...accusing you," he said quietly. He half-expected her to lash out at him, and was prepared for it. He should have thought it through. The way she'd said wolf still rang through his mind, and as he pondered it he realized that he would have killed this injured femme, and it wouldn't have even been for a good reason. Laion was reminded how much he hated being a wolf with a burning passion. Valentina just sighed and closed her eyes again, the corners of her black lips curving the tiniest bit as she wondered if Tyrant would come with them.

ooc: -pokes Val- Reverie wasn't being nasty about the wolf thing! heh.
Tyrant smiled as Triss hurried into the Hollow, instantly at Valentina's side and, surprisingly, issuing orders. I guess she's getting used to her position. Tyrant thought, then turned his head as he felt someone's gaze on him. Dark chocolate eyes met Cody's, and he flashed the flustered looking dog a comforting smile, emitting a low chuff.
Then, Tyrant turned back to Valentina, watching as she stood up. He saw her waver, and went to jump to her side, but Laion had hoisted her onto his back. Tyrant grinned at the wolf, dipping his head in consent, then padded over to Triss.
"I shall come with you, to make sure she's alright." He state din a low, kind voice, eyes sparkling. "Oh, and well done Triss."
His maw broke into a smile, and the Top Dog turned and began to pad out of the Hollow, leading the way to the shaman's den.
--------------
Reverie, who had got to her feet when Valentina did, stared at Laion with narrowed eyes for a moment. Then, she gave a low grunt and turned away, padding towards her nest. She nosed at her bedding for a moment, making it comfortable, then crawled wearily forward and plopped down on the rambling pile of leaves, twigs and feathers. Her head rested on her paws, and her eyelids drooped, the pain in her tail suddenly returning - for she had little else to concentrate on now. Her chest heaved in a soft sigh, and ehr eyes closed properly. In moments, Reverie was asleep.

ooc: hehe I know, but Laion is very insecure and touchy about it, since he believes it is such a bad thing. lolness
Valentina smiled at her friend, as all Reverie returned Laion's comment with was a grunt. She shook her head and closed her eyes, a light grin still on her creamy maw. Although she was glad her brother had attempted an apology, she figured it made things only slightly better, and she was just glad Reverie hadn't lashed out at him.
She lifted her head to look at Tyrant, icy pools holding an odd expression as she blinked at him. She offered him a smile as he announced he was coming with them, and her tail swayed a couple times in happiness.
Laion was entirely bewildered by Reverie's actions. His inky ears flattened against his cranium at her grunt, and he blinked confusedly as she walked away and curled up in her nest. He took a single step after her, and opened his mouth to perhaps try again, when Tyrant spoke.
He turned his entire body to face him, then nodded as Tyrant said he'd go, too. He waved his low-sweeping, black and gold tail a few times, shifted Valentina's weight on his back and padded after the top dog, his blue eyes training from Cody to Triss to Reverie, before finally he looked ahead again, trotting wearily at Tyrant's heels.
